वीरशैव आन्दोलन के केन्द्र में खड़े कवि। «वचन» — छन्दमुक्त, बोलचाल की कन्नड़ में लिखी छोटी रचनाएँ — जिनमें मन्दिर, जाति और कर्मकाण्ड पर सीधा प्रश्न है।
